Olive and June: Your New Favorite Polish

If you haven’t yet heard of Olive and June, you’ll be hearing lots more about it soon. This phenomenal nail polish was once sold only online, but they have started selling their line of products at Target, and I am HERE for it!

This is a fairly budget-savvy polish. At $9 a bottle, it is only a dollar and change more than Sally Hansen’s Miracle Gel polish, and half the price of brands like Butter London. Let’s talk about what makes this polish amazing (and worth every penny), shall we?

I love a product that goes the distance, and this polish is no exception. I’m a boy mom and a clean freak, so I tend to be really hard on my nails. And even with a good deal of hand-washing, pot scrubbing, backpack rummaging, and lego building, this polish lasts me a full 5 days before it starts chipping. I can’t tell you how awesome this is compared to my usual nail polish, which would usually chip after about 2 days.

They recommend that you apply 2-3 coats of polish to bare nails (or to nails that you have prepped with their primer or nail strengthener), and then finish it off with their top coat. (I like to start with OPI’s Nail Envy Nail Strengthener, which I find more effective than Olive and June’s strengthener, but this doesn’t affect the wear of the polish at all.)

What sets this polish apart is that it bonds to the nail or base coat and then sets to a hard shell that doesn’t dent or get crumbly around the edges. It’s not thick or gummy, and each coat layers smoothly and evenly. The top coat is also extremely shiny, giving nails that just-from-the salon finish.

There are also SO. Many. Colors. Pinks-a-plenty. Reds galore. The whole pinwheel of rainbow colors. Fifty shades of gray. (Ok, just 13. Calm down, everyone.) And they have sheer, as well as metallic and glitter polishes. Basically, if you want a color, they’ve got it. BUT just under 20 of them are sold at Target, so you might have to go to their website for a deeper dive.

The only thing I don’t love about this polish is their color-naming system, since many of the original polish shades were just given initials, like my favorite colors, BP (a fresh periwinkle) and ECC (a whitish thistle), which are hard to remember when re-purchasing or recommending them to others.

So, there you have it. On your next Target run, grab one of these amazing polishes. You won’t regret it. (You should try KFC- it’s one of my favorites.) 😉

Shine on, Lovelies!
